Pop's proven selling process delivers results, as evidenced by thousands of highly satisfied customers. Working with a Pop Consultant makes the selling process convenient as these professionals are managing various details on your behalf. All financial transactions are secure with regular communication from the Pop team.
The Pop website generates nearly 4 million visitors annually, with close to 12 million page views. Your boat advertisement will appear on multiple websites including BoatCrazy.com, Rightboat.com and BoatMart.com. Additionally, Pop runs ads on Google, Facebook, and Instagram to reach a massive audience, and sends approximately 1.2 million emails weekly.
Pop's closing department will guide you through every step of the process, answer all your questions, and ensure you're comfortable with the entire transaction. Our closing team has transferred ownership for thousands of boats and knows what to expect from a signed agreement to delivery.
At Pop, we understand sellers require regular updates on their advertisement status. Sellers receive a weekly activity report (PDF) containing data on traffic volume including views from anonymous and registered (have a Pop account) consumers, buyers showing interest, and inquiries submitted.
Pop has been expanding its market areas since we started in 2009. We can represent sellers across all 50 states.
Pop has nearly 400 Pop Consultants across North America and you shouldn't have trouble being represented. If we don't have a Pop Consultant near your area, you'll work with our Central Advertisements team. The advertisement process remains the same, however, since we do not have a Consultant in your area, we will ask you to participate more in the process. This may include providing us with additional information, photos and a video to use in marketing your boat.
We have several industry experts on staff that can perform a market valuation of your boat and provide you a pricing recommendation. This market valuation is offered at no cost to you. All you must do is sign up.
We only charge 10% of the final purchase price when we sell your boat (for smaller units, there is a $2,750 minimum). If we can't find a buyer, we don't make a dime. If we find a buyer and help facilitate a safe and secure transaction, we get paid.
You can sell your boat on your own at any time. However, if the buyer was secured by Pop, you'll still owe the agreed upon cost.
Duplicate advertisements can be problematic for sellers and buyers. Let your Pop Consultant know which website(s) are displaying your ad and we'll remove the "data feed" so identical ads are not side-by-side. Be sure to tell us when this changes and we'll return your advertisement to the website(s) in question.
Pop will handle all buyer inquiries received from the hundreds of advertisements we post around the Internet. We get paid if we convert an inquiry into a sale. If you post your own advertisement and sell on your own, we don't get paid. However, if the buyer was secured by Pop, we get paid for our services.
This is very common as most of the boats we sell have a lien. We use the buyer's funds to pay off your lienholder. If there is a balance, it will be sent to you directly. If there is a shortage, you will have to send your lienholder the additional funds prior to closing.
The Pop marketing agreement is required to ensure a smooth and consistent experience for buyers and sellers. The agreement describes Pop's role and your responsibilities, such as notifying us of changes to the engine hours. Laws in several states require a signed agreement, thereby giving us permission to market and sell a boat. We think it's prudent to have a signed document as we're making an investment in marketing your boat, both in dollars and time.
It's not unheard of to ask for proof of ownership before transferring a vessel. Proof of ownership is more than just proving you have the right to sell the vessel. While this is necessary, it's also important to know upfront if there are other names on the Title, if the registration is valid, or there are potentially other issues such as an unregistered trailer in a state where registration is necessary to legally transfer. These can cause delays when completing the transaction, which means your payout will take longer.
If the vessel is owned in the name of a company (such as an LLC or Trust), we will need to see paperwork identifying you as a Managing Member of such entity. Again, we are primarily trying to ward off a potential delay or interruption for a smoother closing transaction down the line.
We are a marketing machine completely focused on getting you offers and making a sale. The Pop website generates nearly 4 million visitors annually, and close to 12 million page views. Your boat advertisement will appear on multiple websites including BoatCrazy.com, Rightboat.com and BoatMart.com. Pop uses email extensively to market advertisements, and approximately 1.2 million emails are sent weekly. Additionally, Pop runs ads on Google, Facebook, and Instagram to reach a massive audience that can be targeted by their interest in boating and location. Display ads – some that may feature your boat – are published in Google's display network, along with several other ad systems. It's all about getting your boat in as many searches and on as many websites as possible.
While working with Pop, you can sell on your own, but you can't list or advertise your boat with another dealer or brokerage. This is because buyers can get easily confused when they find the same boat for sale at multiple places, especially if the price or details are slightly different.
The internet allows buyers to shop anywhere to find the perfect boat for their family. Since boats are easy and affordable to transport, many buyers will have the boat shipped to their location. Or travel to pick it up, to get the boat they want at the price they can afford.
We only list and sell boats that have a value of $25,000 or more and are in good working condition.
If your vessel is at a marina or in your front yard/driveway, and is not locked, you don't need to attend the photo shoot. If a cabin is locked, please try to unlock it before our scheduled time so we can get pictures of all areas of the vessel. We understand your busy schedule and will try to make this as convenient as possible. Please try to remove personal clutter from the vessel or tuck it away into shelves/cabinets before the photo shoot. Prospective buyers like to see a clean, clutter-free boat.
We have a responsibility to publish and market accurate advertisements, so buyers are making smart decisions. You have the most intimate knowledge about your boat, so approving the advertisement will bring more qualified buyers.
This is your sale, and you can negotiate as much as you want. If you don't like the buyer's first offer, come back with a higher number. Your Pop Consultant will present your counter-offer. We remain neutral throughout the process and are there to professionally facilitate communication between you and the buyer. Tell us the desired selling price and we will suggest the best advertisement price based on solid market research from our extensive sales records.
We prepare buyers to expect a certain number of cosmetic or small items on a survey report for a pre-owned boat. Depending on age, some reports may have several small items that are mostly cosmetic and, for the most part, a certain amount of that is expected. If a larger problem is uncovered, it can lead to the buyer asking for a price adjustment or ultimately the transaction may be canceled by the buyer. Prior to a survey, we will send you a list of the common items that fail inspection, such as batteries not being charged or seats not working properly, make sure your Boat is in good working order, which ultimately helps make sure a survey goes smoothly.
While scheduling doesn't always permit, we always try to have a Pop Consultant at the vessel when her new owner arrives.
Since its founding in 2009, Pop has emerged as the world's largest online, full-service, for-sale-by-owner marketplace for boats and yachts. Pop has perfected bringing buyers and sellers together with a comprehensive suite of services required for successful transactions.
Unlike any peer-to-peer alternative, Pop's full-service digital marketplace delivers fast, secure, and hassle-free results to buyers and sellers. Pop stands for "Paid on Performance," meaning a seller does not owe a fee to Pop unless we deliver a buyer. This promise is the foundation of our brand and Pop stands behind this guarantee.
The PopSells.com website was designed to allow consumers to quickly and easily search for boats, RVs, homes, and other discretionary, high-ticket items. Once a user has selected a product category, like boats, the site will display all boating-related content, including advertisements for sale and helpful articles. Consumers can quickly change to RVs or other product categories using the search bar or global navigation links.
